Late Night: Atom Age Vampire and Other Halloween Offerings

Beauty, vanity, love and an Atom Age Vampire in this full length horror flick!

Feeling a little sucked dry by politicians? Maybe Attack of the Giant Leeches will cheer you up!

And of course no Halloween is complete without Bugs Bunny in Hair Raising Hare:

At this time of year, when the veil is thin between the world, let’s lift a glass and light a candle to those who have passed, including most recently our brave Firebagger, Southern Dragon.

Late Night FDL: Astronauts, Idiots, Three Men and a Tenor

A Sacramento law firm is suing to prevent Democratic congressional candidate Jose Hernandez from describing himself as an “astronaut/scientist/engineer” on the June ballot. The firm Bell, McAndrews & Hiltachk has ties to Republican politicians:

Attorney Charles Bell Jr., one of two lawyers named on the lawsuit, is general counsel to the California Republican Party. The other attorney listed on the lawsuit, Brian Hildreth, has worked for former Republican Gov. Pete Wilson.

The lawsuit points out that Jose Hernandez did not receive any pay from NASA in 2011 and that

Hernandez’s attempted use of ‘astronaut’ violates the Election Code’s unambiguous requirement that a candidate’s ballot designation reflect one’s current profession, vocation, or one held during the previous calendar year.

Hernandez left NASA in January of 2011. He was

born into a farmworker family, trained as an engineer at the University of the Pacific and was selected as an astronaut candidate in May 2004. He flew aboard the shuttle Discovery in 2009.

Late Night FDL: Dumb and Dangerous Patrol

I just got back from watching a taping of two episodes for Dr. Drew’s Lifechangers and I think Dr Drew needs to have Andrew Breitbart and John Hagee on to get some hugs. And not from Rick Perry.

Learning about witchcraft from Harry Potter!? Well, frankly I’d rather kids learn about witchcraft the old fashioned way, from witches! Or at least from a book by a real witch. And Breitbart, who I used to know socially -he co-wrote a book with one of my housemates circa 2000- seems to be moving in the direction of the same sort of paranoid buffoonery that so defined Glenn Beck’s tenure on Fox.

Please Dr. Drew, take them on and teach them open-mindedness, compassion and forgiveness! Or at least give them a fashion makeover!

Late Night: Primary Bugs, Cartoon Heros and Villains

Wow, some cartoons should not be used as guides for campaigning! On the other hand, check out this two-part campaign film sponsored by UAW-CIO in support of Democratic President Franklin D. Roosevelt. Propaganda, then and now, is really interesting.

And in other news, last week’s crazy cat lady was arrested Saturday after repeated trespassing, including walking into my house and refusing to leave. Sadly after eleven hours in the hoosegow, she didn’t learn her lesson and has been back accosting the neighbors. While the judge didn’t grant me a TRO, there are other options I am exploring. Meanwhile, we have very large locks on the gates.
