At the rate he is going, he could burn down the whole Gooper house of cards. His attacks on Romney, who is almost certainly the nominee, are the kind that could easily alienate moderate and undecided voters and insure an Obama victory.
Rush has been freaking out about Newt for a while now. Newt has referred to himself as a “FDR progressive Republican” before (LOL!) and Rush really hates him.
I was reading Rush’s site earlier today, too, btw. The man is completely incoherent. But I love that cheezy picture of him smoking a cigar on his homepage. It cracks me up every time I see it.

Personally, I think you ought to give poor Huntsman some love. Truly loathsome and regressive policies, but actually sane, has a measurable IQ, and is not shamelessly pandering to every loon on the right, so nobody even notices he is alive.

And here I was concerned that the Democrats were hampered by a serious deficit of loons and whackjobs to compete with the Republicans on a level playing field.
For whatever reason the GOP money boys have settled on Mittens (who actually polls better against Obama than any of the others right now) rather than Huntsman. They really do want to win this, which is why they have the knives out for Newticles, who could not get elected dogcatcher.
I’m curious, though…..would the alleged Democrats fight back against Romney if he were as hell bent on doing serious damage to SS and Medicare and such? I may be naive, but I find Obama more troubling than Romney … and Romney is an empty suit. I’m just not smart enough to know who will actually be the President if Romney is elected. Of course I don’t know who (besides the bank guys) is running Obama, either.
I am not convinced that Obama actively wants to gut those programs, though he is clearly willing to sacrifice them to get some kind of deal he wants. I still have not figured out exactly what it is he is looking to get. As to the Dems standing up to Romney, they did not put up much resistance against Dubya or Reagan.

It seems to me that the Repugs are actually throwing the election, as if BHO is really their man. It just doesn’t pass the smell test that this well-funded and established party would stage such a disastrous goat rodeo otherwise. The only alternative scenario I can imagine is that they’re planning some kind of brokered convention trickery, pulling Jeb (the only R who stands a chance in the general) out of nowhere.
