True Lies Ahead: Ahnuld, Newt and Elephants in the Living Room

America loves foibles and forgiveness. Stumble, say you’re sorry, and you’re back on top. Only it’s just not gonna work for Arnold Schwarzenegger who may have more than one love child by more than one staff member, reports Gawker. And at least one of them is named after a character the actor-governor played. That one, a boy who is 19, was uncovered by the Daily Mail in 2003, but his mom claims it’s just

dirty politics

Mmmm…no amount of apologies will make up for any of this.

Meanwhile, Newt Gingrich –who owed more to Tiffany’s on a revolving charge than the majority of Americans earn in a year (according to the IRS only 2% of American households earn over $250,000 a year)– has apologized to Paul Ryan for calling the House Budget Committee Chairman’s Medicare proposal

right-wing social engineering

drawing outrage from fellow party members. So Newt went into damage control, reports Politico:

From Iowa, Gingrich held two conference calls with tea party leaders scattered throughout the nation – one on short notice Monday night, and another Tuesday morning. Aides said Gingrich started each of the half-hour calls by explaining what he meant on “Meet the Press,” and acknowledging that he could have expressed it better.

Ahunld won’t be re-entering the political arena for a very long time, and the love child revelations–especially because baby mama number two reportedly worked in the Shriver-Schwarzenegger household for possibly a decade after the child was born, retiring in January of this year after 20 years of service to Arnold’s manse–are way ickier than some groping and random womanizing. His brand is sickly and tarnished.

Newt on the other hand is a cheery foreshadowing of what lies ahead as the GOP race heats up, promising lots of slinging, screaming and scheming.

LISA!
I don;t want any elephants in my living room or their “family values”.

Lisa Derrick | Tuesday May 17, 2011 08:05 pm 3

Wow, Arnold. The man who vetoed a marriage equality bill twice…NICE GOING, jerkwad. And I can say the same about John Edwards.

EvilDrPuma | Tuesday May 17, 2011 08:05 pm 4

Poor Newt. One little venture into telling the truth, and what does he get? He’ll make sure he lies like a good little Reprivatican for a good long time to come.

EvilDrPuma | Tuesday May 17, 2011 08:05 pm 5

Hey, Margaret! How was the first day?

Margaret | Tuesday May 17, 2011 08:07 pm 6
In response to EvilDrPuma @ 5

Out of all of the things I’ve experienced in life, I hate the first day on a new job perhaps the most. That being said, as first days go, this one could have been much worse.

ThingsComeUndone | Tuesday May 17, 2011 08:19 pm 28

So how come Newt never had any love kids Abortion? Birth Control as a Catholic thats now a no no? Its only a matter of time before the Fundy voters who tend to vote heavily in GOP primaries start asking this question.
I expect Newt’s poll numbers to dive the bigger this story gets.

AZ Matt | Tuesday May 17, 2011 08:21 pm 29

DrDick | Tuesday May 17, 2011 08:21 pm 30

Have to say that I am not really interested in politicians’ personal lives that much. I think it is only relevant to the extent that it shows them to be hypocrites, breaks the law, or presents a conflict of interest (or the appearance of one). Last I heard, there were no saints running for office.

Forget the I am sorry Newt seems to have a brain this was aimed at winning Moderate Voters Newt is trying to run as a Corporate outsider. While I fear semi smart Republicans Newt has to much scandal to win the Fundies. The fact he is willing for a day at least to buck the Corporate wing of the GOP might point the way for other GOPers to win though.
The GOP can win by running Left of Obama Nixon promised to end the war. If a GOPer runs on that O is toast.
If a GOPer runs on government creating jobs he/she will win by a landslide.

Brer Rabbit Ryan has made the Corporate GOPers toxic Sarah has made the Fundies toxic if the GOP wants to win they need to run as outsiders with a new plan. The problem Newt might have a plan but he can’t take the ball down field.

At this point, who knows. I do not think it really matters, as none of the current pack can possibly win the general. Mitt (who will never make it through the primaries), Huckabee, Pawlenty (before he started flopping about like a fish out of water), and maybe Newt (provided he was ever serious bout this) were really the serious contenders in the general. Somebody else could enter the race, and I suspect will now, and change that dynamic.

Half of Hoosiers likely to vote in next year’s election disapprove of Gov. Mitch Daniels’ performance, and the two Democrats vying for Daniels’ job have at least as much voter support as he does, according to a new Indianapolis Star-WTHR (Channel 13) poll.

Rising property taxes, their personal finances, the lease of the Indiana Toll Road and the state’s switch to daylight saving time all contributed to Daniels’ disapproval rate, the poll of 600 Hoosiers found.

http://www.indystar.com/article/20071125/LOCAL19/711250409/50-disapprove-Daniels-work

50% disapproval rating in his home state is the GOP’a great hope? Well in this race he might win…if voting were done by grading on a curve.
But is it to much to ask for a non D Lister to make their presence known? Gov Walker or Rep Ryan probably could get the same poll numbers if the GOP media started talking them up too.
I got stuff on Mitt’s stupid business dealings who buys Home Depot before the housing crisis? What good businessman sells 2 of his 3 Mansions in a down housing market unless they are hurting for cash? Sarah well we all have plenty to say about her. Ron Paul cutting government spending voters seem to know means cutting even more jobs.
Is the GOP taking career advice from Charlie Sheen?

Obama was courting JEB in Miami recently. Gave him big wet kisses in public. Obama may dump Biden and put JEB on the ticket. It’s bipartisan. Their agenda is the same.

According to the Beltway Pols and the MSM, that’s what we all clamored for after 8 years of getting reamed by Cheney Dubya.

Please, give us bipartisanship. That will cure everything. /S

Ahunld’s brand is sickly and tarnished.

We are forgetting “There is no such thing as bad PR”.

This “news” is working well for both Maria and Arnold, in that they are now in the forefront of the news cycle, and should enhance their job prospects.

I don’t believe for a minute that this is new news for Maria, and also detect a strong smell of opportunism.
