In response to Fred Graver @ 9

I’m here to the bitter end. Mainly because I’m a much less successful writer than most of you.

Teddy Partridge | Sunday March 7, 2010 08:24 pm 13

Going right to the Best Actor clips with no intro.

RevDeb | Sunday March 7, 2010 08:24 pm 14

the NBC series promos during the Olympics were much better than the ones on tonight.

Lisa Derrick | Sunday March 7, 2010 08:24 pm 16

Teddy Partridge | Sunday March 7, 2010 08:24 pm 17

Why are five people presenting?

Dan McCoy | Sunday March 7, 2010 08:25 pm 18

An abrupt shift to last year’s format!

catnoel | Sunday March 7, 2010 08:25 pm 23

It’s so cute when the perfect and pretty lady talks about her flaws…

Fred Graver | Sunday March 7, 2010 08:25 pm 24

I would drink Julianne Moore’s bathwater!

Dan McNamara | Sunday March 7, 2010 08:26 pm 25

I once saw Tim Robbins in hockey gear in Chelsea. He’s tall.

Lisa Derrick | Sunday March 7, 2010 08:26 pm 26

The make up ismakes you a good actor…nice to know.

Dan McCoy | Sunday March 7, 2010 08:27 pm 27

He is really tall. And nice.

Elliott | Sunday March 7, 2010 08:27 pm 29

catnoel | Sunday March 7, 2010 08:28 pm 30

Anyone seen Woody lately?

Teddy Partridge | Sunday March 7, 2010 08:28 pm 31

Did Saran Wrap get a rider that they had to dress a certain number of women presenters tonight?

Dan McNamara | Sunday March 7, 2010 08:28 pm 32

Every lady wants Colin Firth.

Dan McCoy | Sunday March 7, 2010 08:29 pm 33

My friend Stuart: “Colin Firth: the sensible alternative to Hugh Grant.”

WGA East/ 9 AM Meeting

catnoel | Sunday March 7, 2010 08:29 pm 34

In response to Dan McNamara @ 25

Every Bridget Jones fan just swooned…

altsideparker | Sunday March 7, 2010 08:29 pm 36

I guess this idea seemed good on paper.

RevDeb | Sunday March 7, 2010 08:29 pm 37

Colin Firth really was terrific in A Single Man. I don’t think he gets nearly the credit he deserves.

Teddy Partridge | Sunday March 7, 2010 08:29 pm 38

We haven’t had Best Actress yet.

Dan McNamara | Sunday March 7, 2010 08:29 pm 39

Woody Harrelson was seen eating pot brownies in the lobby.

Phoenix Woman | Sunday March 7, 2010 08:30 pm 40
In response to mocha @ 5

Nope, I haven’t seen it either.

So is the fact that Hurt Locker’s been getting all sorts of minor awards mean that it’s getting stiffed for Best Pic by IB?

Elliott | Sunday March 7, 2010 08:30 pm 41
In response to RevDeb @ 37

I go for him

Teddy Partridge | Sunday March 7, 2010 08:30 pm 42

Kind of weird to have loooongtime friends alongside newly met costars, though.

Lowell Peterson | Sunday March 7, 2010 08:30 pm 43

Yeah, I guess this is the down side to being in the Eastern time zone for a Hollywood show.

Elliott | Sunday March 7, 2010 08:30 pm 44
In response to Teddy Partridge @ 38

ermm, nevermind

catnoel | Sunday March 7, 2010 08:31 pm 45

Tim has gained weight since he and Susan broke up.

Teddy Partridge | Sunday March 7, 2010 08:31 pm 47
In response to Phoenix Woman @ 40

Roger Ebert tweets that the editing award usually presages the Best Director and sometimes Best Film. HL won editing.

Dan McCoy | Sunday March 7, 2010 08:31 pm 48

If we were gonna stall before giving Jeff Bridges the Oscar, couldn’t we do it with juggling burlesque dancers or something?

WGA East/ 9 AM Meeting

Justin DiLauro | Sunday March 7, 2010 08:32 pm 49

Teddy Partridge | Sunday March 7, 2010 08:33 pm 58

Bridges first nominated 39 years ago.

Elliott | Sunday March 7, 2010 08:33 pm 59

Lisa Derrick | Sunday March 7, 2010 08:34 pm 60

Ebert predicted it.

he also predicted Hurt Locker for Best Picture and Sandra Bulllock for best actres… let’s see how he does….

WGA East/ 9 AM Meeting

catnoel | Sunday March 7, 2010 08:59 pm 177

That was pretty RAD!!

Timothy Michael Cooper | Sunday March 7, 2010 09:00 pm 178

Hurt Locker won so hard, they didn’t even have to mention those other 9 movies.

Lisa Derrick | Sunday March 7, 2010 09:00 pm 179

Love that one of their producers was banned from the building

Lisa Derrick | Sunday March 7, 2010 09:01 pm 180

NICOLAS CHARTIER, right on, they cant stop them from saying his NAME!

and WORDS make it so!

Fred Graver | Sunday March 7, 2010 09:01 pm 181

BEST part about this was that the writer speaks first! (Okay, that would have happened with Cameron, as well.)

Last month, I was in a 7-11 and said I thought Hurt Locker would win, and none of the customers had heard of it! Hope they redistribute it.

Dan McCoy | Sunday March 7, 2010 09:01 pm 182

Well, goodnight everyone. Time for me to actually pay attention to my Oscar party guests for the fifteen minutes before they get cabs home. Thanks for having me.

They not only made history, they brought history in on time. The universe has shifted yet again. Who knows – we might get a health care bill. All I can say is…more Helen Reddy.

I’d like to thank everyone I’ve ever been online with, but most of all the folks at ABC and/or Cablevision, whose scroll about deal points and other minutiae relating to their squabble was another historic first for the Oscars. It was great liveblogging with all you folks… See you at the Country Music Awards

Elana Levin | Sunday March 7, 2010 09:08 pm 207

re watching Boal’s award acceptance for best original screenplay. Love how he brought it all back to his lived experience as a reporter and gave the actual numbers of soldiers wounded in the war. And the number of soldiers still in the wars.

Thank you Lisa and Firedoglake for letting us do this and inviting the Writer Guild into your home. So to speak.

And thank you to all the Writers Guild members guest blogging tonight for sharing your talents. You guys are so f-ing funny. I must be the luckiest union flack in the world :)
