Oscar Live Blog Here Sunday Night

creative commons, cliff1066

Sunday from 3pm on PST we’ll be liveblogging the red carpet and the Oscars with some of the funniest smartest people around–you!

Oh andas our special guests joining us in snark, hilarty, puns and the usual wordplay: A whole slew of writers from the Writers Guild of America East–past and present writers from Letterman, Politically Incorrect, Best Week Ever, The Chris Rock Show–along with writers from other comedy and even news shows.  Adding an frisson of feminine wit and style savvy, we have reality TV star and top-rated morning radio show host Cat Noel, and  Los Angeles based fashionista/life style consultant Janet Grey.

The fun starts at 3pm PST when E! broadcasts the arrivals.  Dish on the stars, their clothes, their foibles and their politics before we switch over to ABC at 5pm PST for their live red carpet and the show itself.

So put on your tiaras and black tie (together if you like), and meet us all here Sunday at 3pm PST.

I am so excited for Sunday! Thanks for working with the WGAE to do this. We sent an invite to our whole membership.

danmccoy | Friday March 5, 2010 03:28 pm 2

I’ll be here writing on Sunday, but–for now–this is only a test.

ElanaLevin | Friday March 5, 2010 03:33 pm 3

this is a test of your emergency comedy writer system. this is only a test.

Ok, is that funny or did I just think that was funny?

Lucky for you guys I’m not actually part of this live blog since I’m not a WGAE member– I’m the Comms Director. I’ll prob comment at some point. I mean, I’m not a comedy writer, but I am a blogger and I know I’ll feel compelled to join in the convo here.

justindilauro | Friday March 5, 2010 03:34 pm 4

Perfect, Hollywood’s top actors and actresses dressed by top designers and a slew of WGA East writers blogging in their underwear… I hope there’s a 7 second delay. Looking forward to it!

Hello Lisa, or as they say in Australia, G’day.

Hope we can pre-empt the live blogging extravaganza ahead of the Oscars by chatting with you briefly on Australian radio late Sunday morning your time.

I’ll get my producer to give you a call around 11am your time and we’ll try to line it up.

Have fun

caissiestonge | Sunday March 7, 2010 08:40 am 9

Well, I’m one of the 3 million people affected by the Cablevision/ABC bitch fight. Trying to figure out how I can still make all of my Oscar commenting dreams come TRUE!

lowellpeterson | Sunday March 7, 2010 08:41 am 10

How’s this for Convergeance: people with Cablevision will have to watch the Oscars on-line tonight.

Teddy Partridge | Sunday March 7, 2010 12:40 pm 11

The funniest part is seeing all these people wearing their night-time clothes in the middle of the California afternoon. Black-tie and ballgowns at 3:30pm, oh that’s classsssy.

Teddy Partridge | Sunday March 7, 2010 12:41 pm 12
In response to Teddy Partridge @ 11

Well, not THE funniest part now that Lisa’s put together a truly funny crew to liveblog the fest….

I was officially living outside Hartford during most of Y2K but was working in Manhattan. My then employer set me up with a furnished studio in Battery Park City. IIRC, the cable was from RCN. I was OK with not having to give the Dolans more money to p*ss away on the Knicks

Fred Graver | Sunday March 7, 2010 01:15 pm 14

Oh, MAN!!!!… I thought this thing started at 6AM… turned on the red carpet on E! this morning, and saw Sarah Palin and her daughter trying to take the police barricades home.

Fred Graver | Sunday March 7, 2010 01:15 pm 15

Why do I feel like blogging the Oscars for the Writer’s Guild is like that old “starlet who F***ed her way to the middle” joke?

Bonnie Datt | Sunday March 7, 2010 02:33 pm 16

Is this the right place? Our carpet looks more maroon than red?

Dan McCoy | Sunday March 7, 2010 02:50 pm 17

E! is pointing out that their models are actually actress-slash-models–or, as they put it, “Slashies.” Way to shout out to the competing awards show of the night, honoring achievement in same-sex Internet fanfic.

Dan McCoy | Sunday March 7, 2010 02:53 pm 18

Why is E! offering fashion advice from a robot street performer?

WGA East/ 9 AM Meeting

Bonnie Datt | Sunday March 7, 2010 03:00 pm 19

It’s Ryan. On Hollywood Blvd. The most glamorous street to trip over the homeless in the world.

Dan McCoy | Sunday March 7, 2010 03:03 pm 20

Well, guess it’s time to switch over for ABC’s red carpet coverage. I’ll just… OH MY GOD! Oh wow, THE MOST AMAZING THING IS HAPPENING ON ABC RIGHT NOW! I only wish Cablevision subscribers could see it, because there is NO WAY I could ever describe this.

WGA East/ 9 AM Meeting

Bonnie Datt | Sunday March 7, 2010 03:04 pm 21

Check out the red velvet ropes. If it’s like the Emmys, they’ll use them to keep the celebs away from the rest hoi polloi. (and by that I mean ticket holding guests)

John Marshall | Sunday March 7, 2010 03:04 pm 22

It’s an honor just to be logged in

RBG | Sunday March 7, 2010 03:05 pm 23

Bonnie Datt | Sunday March 7, 2010 03:06 pm 24

Dan- It’s shocking, the ABC coverage! Literally shocking! People will be talking about this for YEARS!

Bonnie Datt | Sunday March 7, 2010 03:07 pm 25

I want to say something mean to Ryan as well. Ryan please don’t encourage this shawl collar tuxedo trend!

John Marshall | Sunday March 7, 2010 03:09 pm 26

lady Gaga is wearing the entire Universe to the Oscars

Caissie St.Onge | Sunday March 7, 2010 03:10 pm 27

Zac Efron told Ryan Seacrest this is the most interesting time in his career so far. Talk to me after 20th High School Reunion Musical.

Bonnie Datt | Sunday March 7, 2010 03:12 pm 28

Watch the best supporting actresses nominees pretend to like each other. “IT’S NOT AT ALL A COMPETITION.”

Caissie St.Onge | Sunday March 7, 2010 03:13 pm 29

M’o'n’i'q’u'e looks beautiful. Even though I know that beneath that gown, her legs are furry like a wolf.

Bonnie Datt | Sunday March 7, 2010 03:16 pm 30

That is the best cervical cancer commercial I’ve ever seen.

Bonnie Datt | Sunday March 7, 2010 03:17 pm 31

You can tell Mariah Carey is now a serous actress. She’s only showing five inches of cleavage.

John Marshall | Sunday March 7, 2010 03:18 pm 32

Still, it’s five inches
