No, no, no, you silly person! You must send missionaries to Africa and to wherever the other not thems are and convert them. Then you can let them die in poverty with a peaceful heart because they will go to heaven instead of hell. But you must not allow birth control because every pregnancy is God’s will. If you are wondering why God would want more kids to be born into poverty or to go to hell if the missionaries don’t get to them in time, you haven’t been reading up much on the God these types of Christians believe in.

It’s because every prime number is either one whole number or two whole numbers greater than a number divisible by 3. If P (“prime”) – 1 can be divided evenly by 3, the repeating decimal in P/3 is .33333[...]; if P – 2 can be evenly divided by 3 the repeating decimal is .6666[...]. The intervals are currently random. If you find a pattern and a way to predict which prime comes where, you’ll be a very wealthy person.

This has been another production of “way more math than you ever wanted to look at, from a mathematician who has nothing better to do with himself.”

Interestingly, ZPG, which gets almost no discussion, has been a partial success. World population growth has been on a steady downward trend since the early 1970s. The problem is that even at today´s lower rate of population growth, we are still adding about one Germany (80 million people) a year. Given the current glide path, the world population peaks at 10 billion in 2050, with the US population somewhere around 420 million. Ray Kurzweil expects several changes before that. 1) Life extension as machines and humans merge. 2) A world government by 2020. 3) Delinking of humans from biological determinants around 2045, when augmented beings might start to keep people like pets. In such circumstances, they might have no qualms about culling the herd to a manageable size of a billion or less.
