A sad loss. I'm back to reading fiction lately. Love what is possible online, but the experience of a book in hand is special. If you drive up from Seattle (hour or two), you can catch the BC ferry over to Vancouver Island, which is great. There is (or was) a relatively small boat on a river that cuts through the island, taking hikers out to the pacific rim. Best boat trip evah! Fabulous scenery and good company. Amazing to see how many folks live in isolation in houses floating on logs in the river. If I were going to totally withdraw from civilization, that's where I'd go.
