Late Night: DeLay “Embraces Feminine Side” on Dancing with The Stars

While heaps of you have probably already seen the really funny Funny or Die Hollywood Supports the Insurance Industry video and Obama accepting a heart shaped potato from an audience member on Letterman–what a POTUS of the people!–the high point of comedy so far this week: Tom DeLay making his terpsichorean debut on Dancing with the Stars.

During rehearsals Twinkle Toes Tommy admitted he’s

Gotta get prissy…One thing I wasn’t prepared for in learning to dance is getting in touch with my feminine side

DeLay showed his GOP-party animal side cha-cha-ing to "Wild Thing" then tripped the lights fantastic in Viennese waltz. His score was enough to get him back next week.

Now if we could just move forward on that trial…

Marion in Savannah | Tuesday September 22, 2009 08:04 pm 3

I’ll never forgive him for spoiling “Wild Thing” for me…

Suzanne | Tuesday September 22, 2009 08:05 pm 4

i would prefer tom get in touch with his prison side and not his prissy side

ratfood | Tuesday September 22, 2009 08:05 pm 5

Sorry Tom, hairy man-boobs ain’t feminine

AZ Matt | Tuesday September 22, 2009 08:06 pm 6

I am not going to watch that video. ever.

Lisa Derrick | Tuesday September 22, 2009 08:07 pm 7

the heels and polyester ere just sooo tragic…he looked like a sleazy swinger..Oh and his huge fake teeth! but i will call in and vote to keep him on, if only for amusement….

hychka | Tuesday September 22, 2009 08:07 pm 8

Does anyone know how many weeks ABC guaranteed Tommy’s sorry puss would be on the show?

KellyCDenver | Tuesday September 22, 2009 08:07 pm 9

Terpsichorean!!!!!11!1!

For a second I read it as “harpsichordian” and got this all fluffy sleeved 18th Century costume thing in my head…which probably would have been better than the actual execrable booty shaking and second rate drag queen lip synching. Oy!

Lisa Derrick | Tuesday September 22, 2009 08:08 pm 10
In response to hychka @ 8

you can vote to keep him longer..tho he claims a pre stress fracture in his foot (easy out?)

DrDick | Tuesday September 22, 2009 08:08 pm 11

I will never watch that video. There are simply some things that I will not do, even for science.

jayt | Tuesday September 22, 2009 08:09 pm 12

Tom DeLay making his terpsichorean

Is that a word? Be right back.

ok – learned a new one.

One thing I wasn’t prepared for in learning to dance is getting in touch with my feminine side

I don’t get it. Females can’t be criminals too?

DeLay showed his GOP-party animal side cha-cha-ing to “Wild Thing”

I studiously ignored and consciously avoided that.

motherfucker isn’t gonna ruin “Wild Thing” for me…..

Would someone please get back to me when that asshole is voted off?
(not that I plan to watch such tripe – I just wanna know)

Lisa Derrick | Tuesday September 22, 2009 08:10 pm 13

he needs new hair dye too

DrDick | Tuesday September 22, 2009 08:11 pm 14

One thing I wasn’t prepared for in learning to dance is getting in touch with my feminine side

My question is when will he get in touch with his human side?

Thank you. I had been busting my brains trying to remember what it is/was that he resembles – the sleazy swinger. Gag. I had to cover parts of my TV tonight when Rachel showed clips. The guy is pond scum.

Phoenix Woman | Tuesday September 22, 2009 08:12 pm 16

He should have used this old Gipsy Kings song, but changed its name to “Tom-De-LAAAY-O, Tom-De-Laaaay-O…”

EvilDrPuma | Tuesday September 22, 2009 08:13 pm 17

Tom DeLay’s ”human side?” Come on, you know better than that.

hychka | Tuesday September 22, 2009 08:14 pm 18

Totally off topic,…have any of you noticed that all polls are 54+ or – FOR and 33+ or- AGAINST anything associated with Obama?

Gotta make ya think that the lay of the land is laid.

AZ Matt | Tuesday September 22, 2009 08:14 pm 19

I’d rather watch Kermit the Frog do Springsteen.

If one wants to see “Wild Thing” done appropriately, I’d suggest watching Major Leagues, with Charlie Sheen.

Lisa Derrick | Tuesday September 22, 2009 08:16 pm 21

So wait, over 1/2 the pop is pro-Obama, 1/3 anti…And the rest is case by case?

jayt | Tuesday September 22, 2009 08:17 pm 22

Are there special categories for those who are, and who aren’t, under indictment?

Frank33 | Tuesday September 22, 2009 08:18 pm 23

I must confess, I am oddly attracted to Tom, in a manly kind of way. I want to SEE MORE OF HIM! Is there something wrong with me? And how can I get cured from this? I wonder if my insurance would pay for therapy.

jayt | Tuesday September 22, 2009 08:19 pm 24

I’d chip in 50 bucks toward a fund to his dancing partner, so that she might be “influenced” to kick him right in the nuts on live national teevee….

Phoenix Woman | Tuesday September 22, 2009 08:20 pm 25

Your therapy is to watch this video of the Gipsy Kings singing “Hotel California”.

I was hanging at a bar a few years ago, talking to a cute bartender – she said that it was disco night – I thought, “what the hell, I can survive some bad music” (she *was* really cute) – and then the whole thing started. It was totally fucking disco – guys dressed in the skins of dead polyesters, shirts open to their navel, with chains and shit, and the motherfucking Bee Gees on the box.

Took me about three minutes to decide that the bartender wasn’t nearly *that* cute…

Edit: apropos of nothing, I guess. I blame it on the awful mental image of Tom Delay dancing, and the attendant thought that that asshole would have been so at home that night.

Hi, Lateniters!
jayt -you so funny!
I was almost gonna find out what it’s like to blog dru slightly tipsy — but I’m sobered up now.

Went to a progressive non-profit political reception tonight – they had wine! Free! It’s been a loooong time since I’ve had any alcoholic drinks, and I only had a little…but it hit my head pretty quick. Luckily I couldn’t get any more while listening to the speeches – awards given to 3 legislators for their valiant, though ultimately futile, efforts to get the Texas legislature to consider conforming the state law on sex education to provide “accurate information.”
Two of the 3 managed to get as far as speaking the words “sex education,”, both being immediately shouted down by Repubs with cries of “point of order!”
The third managed to get the dentist-creationist chair of the Tex. Education Association (you may have heard of it – they’re the ones who approve textbooks for the state)out of the chairmanship.
The sad thing is that pretty much all the victories were of that sort – blocking the worst stuff from getting through.
There is good in that, but my gawd! How far toward nutsville we have gone!
But anyway, I got out in the world, met some people, spoke with one person I knew from years ago, and got free food and drink (some of you may know I’ve been mostly unemployed for ten months, tho’ I am working a project right now).
Just wanted to share with y’all. It’s good to physically be with liberals—there are some, still, even her in would-be secesh Texas.

great film about diminishing expectations at the end of an era. Stillman may have had in mind the general lot of affluent youth entering the real world or the downward mobility of the old high Wasp aristocracy, but today that film is probably an allegory for our whole country.

Tom is actually channelling his inner “Denny Terio” Muse

But he more resembles Starsky in “Starsky & Hutch” (version 2)

I’d bet the farm on his going to I.U.

otoh, his C.O. finally finished and shipped off his packet for West Point, and the W.P guy just called him today.

Here’s the deal = he sees it as four years of West Point, with a mandatory five active afterward, or a few years at I.U. getting the undergrad, at which point he gets to choose – Active, Guard or Reserve.

At I.U., he could get his undergrad, opt for Reserves, and stay right at I.U to get the M.B.A. from the Kelly School, ranked #6 in the country.

Or he could do West Point, which would be hard to take for a guy who’s been in for a while, and come out with only an undergrad degree, 5 years of Active in fornt of him – but the G.I. Bill would pay for his Master’s after that. In the meantime, during that 5 year Active, he’d get hung up on the promotion ladder for not having a Master’s Degree.

I’m still saying go to West Point.

Kid’s got a hard head though.

It was like a car crash….you know, so horrible, but you can’t look away. And I, akso, thought the “brown shirt” was an obvious choice. And, EEEEWWWWWWWW!

Please, these right-wing guys are so far in the closet, they keep bumping into karl rove and larry craig slow dancing to moolight serenade. That’s what you get when you watch to much porn. (/snark)

He’s a better dancer than he was a congressman. That’s all I have to say.

Please no more about this cretin. He has been on every newscast and blog for a week. It’s simply not that big of a story.
