Curse of Schwarzenegger? First California, Now “Terminator” Bankrupt
Arnold Schwarzenegger, the governator of California has the state in a kind of a screwed position, to put it mildly. Now he’s on the receiving end of the sandy financial Vaseline: The producers of "Terminator Salvation" have filed for bankruptcy, and Ahnuld is one of the many big names owed dough. Maybe they’ll give him an IOU.
Schwarzenegger, who made
a brief appearance in "Terminator Salvation" joins the of Hollywood hotshots like Christian Bale, screenwriter Paul Haggis, and director McG (who also exec produced the nighttime soap The OC along with directing Charlie’s Angels and a slew of other movies–and is freakisly attached to Terminator 5, somehting that may change now) on the list of creditors owed a total well over 40 million (one unnamed investor alone is owed $35 million!).
The Los Angeles Times reports:
Just a day after the duo sued their investors for allegedly pushing them into a series of bad business decisions and placing what they claim is an illegal lien on their property, three companies belonging to Derek Anderson and Victor Kubicek, owners of the "Terminator" franchise rights and the producers of May’s "Terminator Salvation," filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on Tuesday.
Terminator Salvation made $370 million in tickets worldwide and hasn’t been released DVD on cable, but producers Anderson and Kubicek apparently can;t make ends meet. They can’t pay back one of several loans made by Santa Barbara hedge fund Pacificor, which financed their $30-million purchase of the "Terminator" rights and loaned $9 million for other operating expenses.
Plus they owe a lot of high profile attorneys a lot of money, along with the IRS and the California Francise Tax Board and two studios, Warner Bros and Universal.

McG and all the other music video directors make crap movies that are all flash and little substance. MTV stopped showing music videos years ago, it’d be nice if Hollywood studios would figure out these are not quality directors.
But the biggest problem with Terminator: Salvation is the premise. Terminator is built on the concept of killer robots from the future. But Salvation is in the future, removing half of the premise! And then McG added that stupid 40-story silent robot, please. You don’t make a nerdy movie and then insult the nerds with implausible crap.
