Michael Moore: Announces Comedy Fest, New Slate of Films at Traverse City Film Fest

44315.thumbnail.jpgMichael Moore’s adopted hometown of Traverse City, MI is home to a nifty film fest where each year "Mike’s Surprise"  is a tradition on closing night. This year most folks figured the surprise would be Moore’s eagerly awaited new fim Capitalism: A Love Story. Instead filmgoers were treated to a three minute trailer from that film and a screening of of the 1991 documentary Blood in the Face, about neo-Nazis and the KKK which Moore helped scout, research and conduct interviews for.

Moore had another couple surprises in store for attendees. During a panel discussion, Moore said that Capitalism: A Love Story, which opens in theaters in October, may be his last documentary for a while. The filmmaker explained  that he’s been working on two screenplays, a comedy and a mystery, which he wants to bring to the screen.

Plus Moore claims got some big names lined up for a comedy festher wants to launch in Traverse City, though he’s not saying who.
