Limbaugh’s Syndicators Turn Up Their Noses at Sarah Palin

alaska-gov-sarah-palin.thumbnail.jpgClear Channel, the folks who paid Rush Limbaugh $400 million, then

took an ax to its payroll — again — and hacked hundreds of radio pros out the door. Program directors, morning show hosts, production pros, news anchors — all of them tossed over the side. A "bloodbath," one newspaper called it. (In Albany, New York, the entire on-air staff at a Clear Channel music station was sacked; same with a radio outpost in Exeter, New Hampshire)

has declined to hire Palin even as a fill in, according Broadcasting & Cable’s Paige Albiniak who writes:

My own sources say much what they said when asked about a TV show for Palin: Don’t think so. While you might assume Palin would be a better fit for conservative radio than the less partisan world of syndicated broadcast TV, my sources say the country’s biggest radio conglomerate, Clear Channel, has already passed on her.

The main objection to Palin as radio talk-show host is that she would have to hold forth for three hours a day. While some of her recent remarks may indicate a talent for improvisation, anyone who’s listened to Rush Limbaugh or Thom Hartmann or Don Imus or Howard Stern or even Ryan Seacrest knows it’s the rare personality who can blab extemporaneously for 15 hours a week.

There’s always podcasts…and not hiring Palin could save radio!

No one said you had to be coherent for 15 hours now did they?

Queue the sad trombone.

One hour on field dressing moose, then another on what a stud her husband is, and then finish it out about selling the state plane on Ebay. It would be very exciting.

A good name for her radio persona would be “Miss Communications.”

I’ll bet the meeting to discuss her “proposal” took all of ten minutes. Two to read it, five to laugh themselves hoarse and three to catch their breath and stop their chests from pounding so fiercely.

DennisSGMM | Wednesday July 29, 2009 07:32 pm 9

Palin would start repeating herself about fifteen minutes into the show. Even the true believing dummies who make up Clear Channel’s audience would tune her out in droves. Then there’s that voice, that whiny nasal voice…

ThingsComeUndone | Wednesday July 29, 2009 07:35 pm 10

Thats the cover story Rush ate them

CranialRectalLoopback | Wednesday July 29, 2009 07:36 pm 11

It’s not that complicated. Her voice is like nails on a chalkboard. If she looked like the current mayor of Wassila she would never have been selected. Yes, Republicans ARE that shallow.

Rush isn’t worth one tenth of what Clear Chanel is paying him! What a bunch of dumb fucks!!
I sure hope Clear Channel fails completely!!

puppethead | Wednesday July 29, 2009 07:40 pm 13

Guess having one winning lottery ticket doesn’t mean you’ll always be a winner. And Palin’s PAC is going to wither without her in office or the spotlight.

They passed on her because they are in financial trouble Mitt Romney founder of Bain Capital they own ClearChannel has been selling his mansions plural, which given the price decline in this real estate market suggests that Rush is eating him out of House and homes.
Mitt does not want Sarah to have a ClearChannel company credit card!
Given Sarah’s shopping spree’s with Jon McCain’s Presidential campaign I must agree with Mitt’s logic.

If radio doesn’t want her, will TV? FOX? This is an absolute tragedy!

ThingsComeUndone | Wednesday July 29, 2009 07:45 pm 20

Think of it this way Mitt bought Rush Limbaugh when he was running for President. Mitt could have bought Sarah and if he paid her enough she the GOP frontrunner still would not have run for President . The fact Mitt is not paying her suggests Bain Capital is in REAL TROUBLE! A hedgefund collapse or a group of hedge funds collapsing could sink the economy.
I am worried for the economy about this latest sign that Mitt doesn’t have cash.

RickinSF | Wednesday July 29, 2009 07:45 pm 21

Palin could more accurately be described as a “random clause generator,” rather than a “talker.”

A Family Values girl?

A Family Values girl would never have dragged her kids what she did to them during the last election cycle!! And then bitch about the “Librul” press when they started reporting about them!!

ThingsComeUndone | Wednesday July 29, 2009 07:50 pm 28

Loo Hoo at 24 Yes if Mitt gave Sarah a show I’m sure a contract could be written so that she agrees not to run for President.
Lets say a bonus payment of 5 million dollars if she covers the GOP Presidential Convention.

Loo Hoo. | Wednesday July 29, 2009 07:50 pm 29

Think of the hours of embarrassment the GOP would have to contend with if Sarah had a show!

I still think she’ll get one. FOX has tons of money to spend. But who among the wing nuts still has the interest (and money-these are the scorched earth types) to buy her upcoming book?

ThingsComeUndone | Wednesday July 29, 2009 07:50 pm 30

I think Bain is just trimming the low-profit stations. I’d imagine the advertising revenue is way down if the Arbitron, or whichever rater they use, numbers are down. I don’t know how much debt Clear Channel was/is carrying.

This irks me – Rush gets a nice fat contract for being a blowhard, while some real good folks who couldn’t sniff even 1/1000th of that kind of dough get the boot.

Clear Channel the company, may suck. But there are good Clear Channel stations that suddenly have been all but shut down because all must be sacrificed for the great and powerful Rushbo. *eyeroll*

Don’t forget that Lintball’s the leader of the Rebooblican Party, such as it is. Naturally Clear Channel’s going to give him all the chips, and let the little people who actually work for a living suck it.

Look, we all know that coherence isn’t any criterion at Clear Channel, otherwise that moron Lintball would’ve been on the street years ago. That can’t be why they passed on Bailin’. My theory is that they (correctly) figured she’d demand a guaranteed contract, then get bored after a week or so, and walk off the job ‘north to the future,’ dontcha know. Also.
