First Sarah Palin said she never went to Bloomingdale’s, so
Good ole Dave..that was a distortion
Now she’s claiming her first thought was how Letterman had disparaged flight attendants, who she then praised. But mainly she wont let go of the "raping my underage daughter" bit
On the Today Show, Matt Lauer urged Palin to explain a line in a statement from her spokesperson that
it would be wise to keep Willow away from David Letterman.
Lauer asked:
Are you suggesting that David Letterman can’t be trusted around a 14-year-old girl?
Palin’s response:
Hey, take it however you want to take it. It is a comment that came from the heart that Willow, no doubt, would want to stay away from David Letterman after he made such a comment. And you can interpret that however you want to interpret it.
Lauer then asked:
Well is that not perhaps in bad taste also, governor?
Mother Sarah’s response:
No, it’s not in bad taste. Hey, maybe he couldn’t be trusted because Willow’s had enough of this type of comments and maybe Willow would want to react to him in a way that maybe would catch him off guard. That’s one way to interpret such a comment.
She then went on to invoke the holy grail of "young women’s self image," something she was very silent on when the Alexia Foundation–a group founded to offer support to rape survivors–honored Bill O’Reilly who made the following image enhancing remarks in 2006:
So anyway, these two girls come in from the suburbs and they get bombed, and their car is towed because they’re moronic girls and, you know, they don’t have a car..She was 5-foot-2, 105 pounds, wearing a miniskirt and a halter top with a bare midriff. Now, again, there you go. So every predator in the world is gonna pick that up at two in the morning. She’s walking by herself on the West Side Highway, and she gets picked up by a thug. All right. Now she’s out of her mind, drunk.
And the thug takes her over to New Jersey in the cab and kills her and rapes her and does all these terrible things to her.
Oh, for crying out loud. What can you say about a woman who doesn’t understand that saying He’s disparaging flight attendants by comparing her to them? Really.
And, msnbc wasn’t playing the back and forth you have written here about Willow and Dave. Hmmmm. Are they afraid that it might sound slanderous? I’m thinking that the time slot Dave is in has a totally different audience than Lauers. Sarah’s the one bringing the topic home during morning hours, when young girls might hear it.
Doesn’t she have some paperwork to shuffle?
Oh, and the whole thing about her and Todd not going on his show and giving him high ratings is a hoot too. How presumptuous.
