“Rod Blagojevich Superstar” Gets the Real %$#@&! Blago
Disgraced former Illinois governor Rod Blagojevich will appear onstage during "Rod Blagojevich Superstar," Second City’s musical parody of his rise and fall. The Chicago-based improv company announced that Illin’ Noise Blagojevich will
show up during the show to help announce the extension of the satirical spoof through Aug. 9. Blagojevich will also take part in the improv set that follows the show.
Comedians Frangela (Frances Callier and Angela Shelton) who got their start at Second City and appeared on "I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here" have left Mrs. Patti Blagojevich in the jungles of El Salvador to continue her "celebrity career," earning money for her family by standing in for her husband, whose plea to appear on the reality endurance TV show was denied a by a federal judge. Blago is currently on trial for federal corruption charges.
"Blagojevich Superstar" producer Kelly Leonard didn’t reveal what %#&*@ financial deal had been made with the real Blago, but did say a portion of the box-office proceeds on Saturday night will be donated to the charity Gilda’s Club, a cancer support organization founded by Gilda Radner, the late "Saturday Night Live" star and Second City alumna. Leonard told the Chicago Tribune:
We’ve been told he’s really curious and has a great sense of humor.
