Jon Voight: Obama is a “False Prophet”

Jon Voight’s speech at last night NRCC-NRSC dinner was a carefully crafted jingoist clap-a-thon, larded with dominionist, eschatological messages to stir up the theocratic nutbags, while hitting the usual right wing punching bags: the media, Hollywood, Joe Biden, the stimulus package, Congressional Democrats.

Other highlights:

Obama portrayed himself as a moderate, but is really radical (side note: Didn’t Bush portray himself as being concerned about the moral fiber of America and rising health care costs, and then didn’t do diddly?)

Voight implies Obama won the election illegally (side note: Unlike Florida in 2000?)

Voights biggest concern is Israel, a huge  focus of the Armageddonists, and he gave special thanks to Hannity, Limbaugh, O’Reilly, Ingram, Levin, Bennett, Beck, Hewett, Prager, Medvid, Steele, Miller, Malkin, Rove, etc ad nauseum.

Lets give thanks to them for not giving up and staying the course to bring an end to this false prophet Obama.

"False prophet"  is dominionist, Armaggedonist code for the Final Boss of the End Times.

On the super spy show "24," Voight played military-industrialist Jonas Hodges, the

Anti-Jack Bauer… responding to the investigations into his unsavory methods of protecting the United States by attacking it as opposed to protecting it.

The lines between fact and fiction are blurring with Voight. Didn’t the Right tell us during the Bush years that if we didn’t support the President we were supporting our enemies?

And if Voight’s comments had been made by a liberal entertainer during a Republican presidency, wouldn’t they be boycotted –Dixie Chicks, anyone?

If I had made that awful movie with J-Lo that Voight did, I wouldn’t even appear in public again, much less make a speech. He’s just looking for some attention since his career seems to have disappeared.

Maybe Jon could join Chuck Norris on a some kind of conservative buddy road show reality show for Fox.

Completely OT, but this just made me laugh. This story is great…

‘One of the Romania’s most flamboyant politicians has been barred from taking his seat in the European Parliament because he is facing a police inquiry.

Gigi Becali, a former shepherd who made a fortune in land deals, is accused of attacking thieves who stole his car.

Mr Becali – a devout Christian who owns Romania’s biggest football club Steaua Bucharest – got into trouble with the police earlier this year when a group thieves stole his car and demanded a ransom for its return.

He initially paid the ransom, but the thieves claim they were then trapped, roughed up and dumped outside Bucharest by Mr Becali’s men.

The thieves took their complaint to the police, and Mr Becali was arrested.

He announced his candidacy for the European Parliament from his prison cell’

Whats the penalty for bearing false witness?

It was all downhill after Midnight Cowboy. Like Bruce Dern, Voight was poised at the threshold of greatness and got passed up. Nicholson got all the good parts (after The King of Marvin Gardens). Dern is a nice guy now. His wounded ego had healed. Voight is still a tremendously bitter dickhead.

Elijah answered, “By the living LORD Almighty, whom I serve, I promise that I will present myself to the king today.”

So Obadiah went to King Ahab and told him, and Ahab set off to meet Elijah. When Ahab saw him, he said, “So there you are–the worst troublemaker in Israel!”

“I am not the troublemaker,” Elijah answered. “You are–you and your father. You are disobeying the LORD’s commands and worshiping the idols of Baal. Now order all the people of Israel to meet me at Mount Carmel. Bring along the 450 prophets of Baal and the 400 prophets of the goddess Asherah who are supported by Queen Jezebel.”

So Ahab summoned all the Israelites and the prophets of Baal to meet at Mount Carmel. Elijah went up to the people and said, “How much longer will it take you to make up your minds? If the LORD is God, worship him; but if Baal is God, worship him!” But the people didn’t say a word.

Then Elijah said, “I am the only prophet of the LORD still left, but there are 450 prophets of Baal. Bring two bulls; let the prophets of Baal take one, kill it, cut it in pieces, and put it on the wood–but don’t light the fire. I will do the same with the other bull. Then let the prophets of Baal pray to their god, and I will pray to the LORD, and the god who answers by sending fire–he is God.”

The people shouted their approval.

Then Elijah said to the prophets of Baal. “Since there are so many of you, you take a bull and prepare it first. Pray to your god, but don’t set fire to the wood.”

They took the bull that was brought to them, prepared it, and prayed to Baal until noon. They shouted. “Answer us. Baal!” and kept dancing around the altar they had built. But no answer came.

At noon Elijah started making fun of them; “Pray louder! Hi is a god! Maybe he is day-dreaming or relieving himself, or perhaps he’s gone off on a trip! Or maybe he’s sleeping, and you’ve got to wake him up!” So the prophets prayed louder and cut themselves with knives and daggers, according to their ritual, until blood flowed. They kept on ranting and raving until the middle of the afternoon; but no answer came, not sound was heard.

Then Elijah said to the people, “Come closer to me.” and they all gathered around him. He set about repairing the altar of the LORD which had been torn down. He took twelve stones, one for each of the twelve tribes named for the sons of Jacob, the man to whom the LORD had given the name Israel With these stones he rebuilt the altar for the worship of the LORD. He dug a trench around it, large enough to hold about four gallons of water. Then he placed the wood on the altar, cut the bull in pieces, and laid it on the wood. He said, “Fill four jars with water and pour it on the offering and the wood.” They did so, and the said, “Do it again”–and they did. “Do it once more,” he said–and they did. The water ran down around the altar and filled the trench.

At the hour of the afternoon sacrifice the prophet Elijah approached the altar and prayed, “O LORD, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, prove now that you are the God of Israel. and that I am your servant and have done all this at your command. Answer me, LORD, answer me, so that this people will know that you, the LORD, are God and that you are bringing them back to yourself.”

The LORD sent fire down, and it burned up the sacrifice, the wood, and the stones, scorched the earth and dried up the water in the trench.

When the people saw this, they threw themselves on the ground and exclaimed. “The LORD is God; the LORD alone is God!”

Elijah ordered, “Seize the prophets of Baal; don’t let any of them get away!” The people seized them all, and Elijah led them down to Kishon Brook and killed them.….._profb.htm

If Obama is a false Prophet then lets test Jon Voight’s worthiness to Speak For the Lord! Old Testament Style, Biblical!

Jon Voigt is a jerk, but Obama is turning out to be a corportist and a liar to boot.

What happened to getting out of Iraq by 2011?
What happened to single payer?
What happened to don’t ask don’t tell?
What happened to the people getting screwed by the banks?
Why is no Bushie or thievin’ corporate exec held accountable?
Why is he covering for US imperialism, The CIA torture and the settlements in the West Bank?

The people got taken by the smiling black man with the big ears who talks a good game… and won’t do a thing for the people

“And if Voight’s comments had been made by a liberal entertainer during a Republican presidency, wouldn’t they be boycotted –Dixie Chicks, anyone?”

The objection to the Dixie Chicks is that they said what they said when they were in England.

Traditionally, Americans defend their President when they travel abroad. It’s a solidarity thing–kinda like, “Hey, I can criticize my family, but you better not!” This goes *way* back.

However, once back on American soil, Americans criticizing the President is no problem.

Lisa Derrick | Tuesday June 9, 2009 08:01 pm 18

Don, The Dixie Chicks alos spoke out on Fox and the boycott continued. It was about what they said, not where they said it. has some great calls to boycott

I call bulldada. You’re suggesting that Americans surrender their Constitutional rights to disagree with US domestic or foreign policy when they travel? Is that in a codicil to the 1st Amendment? Stated in the US Passport?

I’ve never heard that there was something in our Constitution that we lie about our feelings about a President or our Governments actions when we travel abroad…and I’ve been doing it all my life. In fact, it’s one of the biggest differences between Americans travelling and those from petty little dictatorial states…Americans can say what they feel and still return to the the country without fear the government is going to clamp down on them.

The Dixie Chicks weathered the storm pretty well…and what they said has proven correct. Jon Voight’s comments are simply off on the lunatic margins.

You have questions. Let me provide some answers which I’ve read or heard elsewhere.

What happened to getting out of Iraq by 2011?

He caved to the military who said he should go with the forces agreement Bush and Iraq agreed to. So, we get out by end of next year.

What happened to single payer?

He never said we’d get that. He said he favored it, but it was unrealistic to imagine this government would give us that.

What happened to don’t ask don’t tell?

I guess it’s still in the works. He’s been kinda busy with some other stuff. You may have heard.

What happened to the people getting screwed by the banks?

As it has always been, so shall it always be. Financial industry reform really hasn’t come through yet. That’s Dodd’s bailiwick, with input & suggestions from Obama. I too wish they’d get on with that as a revived economy would still be at risk from the things which are broken.

Why is no Bushie or thievin’ corporate exec held accountable?

As with DADT, it’s in the works. Some of these things are maddeningly slow to arrive, but arrive they will.

Why is he covering for US imperialism, The CIA torture and the settlements in the West Bank?

If you know about them then it can’t be said there covered up.

If you want to know what’s going on with the torture you need to read emptywheel. She’s got a timeline you would not believe.

The settlements aren’t news. But, they are pushing forward on resolving the whole Israel-Palestinians issue. Read the press for updates on that.

Voight is correct: the closest analogy to Barack Hussein Obama is Julius and/or Octavius Caesar. Taking the forms of the American Republic and turning it into dictatorship. There were always Republicans in Imperial Rome and may Brutus live forever. Hail Voight!
