Wall Street 2: Evil Hedge Funders–and Shia LeBeouf!
Oliver Stone is making Wall Street 2 which will feature a post-prison Gordon Gekko, with Shia LeBeouf as his soon-to-be son-in-law and Javier Bardem as a nasty, evil hedge funder. Gekko has dropped his mantra of "Greed is good" and is busy chanting "The end is nigh," only no one is listening because, well greed is good.
According to Nikki Fine’s sources, Shia’s character, himself an upcoming Wall Street trader is engaged to Gekko’s estranged daughter (First thought? X’s "Sex & Dying in High Society": so you marry your daddy with a different name….) when his boss offs himself. Shia think wicked stock-shorting Javier Bardem is behind the death–maybe it’s murder?!–and prevails upon Gekko to help him out. Gekko wants to walk his daughter down the aisle, so he says yes…Perfidy ensues.
Wall Street 2, set for a February 2010 release, covers the time period from June 2008 to the bail-out. The script is by Allan Loeb. It might be good fun if Gekko and Bardem duke it out with magnums of Dom, smearing caviar in each other’s eyes and generally beating the crap out of each other. Otherwise…zzzzz: Dueling Oedipal and Electra complexes with really expensive clothing.
