Late Night: Mothers and Others and Money, Freakers (NSFW Video)

Happy Mothers Day. It’s been a weird year for moms and for parents in general: Madonna’s failed adoption, Bristol Palin flipflops on abstinence in order to shill for  a shoe company, Octo-mom–both the real life and the musical, Arkansas banning same sex couples adopting, Florida continuing to ban gay couples from adopting.

And this Sunday, Mothers Day, our nominee for Bad Mother of the Year (beating out both Octo-mom and Courtney Love who spent $323,000 on a Sweet 16 Suicide party for daughter Francis Bean at the House of Blues–yeah, the theme is really inappropriate, and so was spending that kinda cash, no matter how much money Mommy made from necrophilia): Maine’s very own State Rep Sherly Briggs, a Democrat, who outted her daughter on the floor after voting against same-sex marriage, saying:

Blame it on my upbringing, or the good book, but the deepest part of my soul tells me that this is wrong. I can’t change how I feel. These feelings run very deep. I have kept this secret within me for 15 years, but because of who I am, and where I am today, and as a member of this legislative body, ethically, it is my duty, and my responsibility, to publicly say to my daughter, that I do not support her way of life. I have no choice. I have to hit that button.

But leave it to those wacky Germans to give a really weird take on single motherhood…England is slut, America is well-endowed  but TV obsessed, and what’s up with the Kim Il Jong reference at the end? Like, do you really want to have your country practicing unprotected currency co-mingling with him?

In the words of Emmanual Rahm..Happy Mother—me and bff went to brunch

hey lisa

EvilDrPuma | Sunday May 10, 2009 08:08 pm 4

Briggs’ daughter would disappoint me if she ever spoke to her mother again. Both outing and berating her daughter’s orientation in public is simply despicable.

DrDick | Sunday May 10, 2009 08:08 pm 5

Here’s to all the bad mothers out there, you know who you are.

Suzanne | Sunday May 10, 2009 08:11 pm 6

and the redneck mothers too

demi | Sunday May 10, 2009 08:12 pm 7

Whatever happened to blood is thicker than water? And love is thicker than blood. I cannot fathom what it must be like to be Sherly’s daughter.

Lisa Derrick | Sunday May 10, 2009 08:13 pm 8

This commercial made me laugh really hard.

I think something like the ninth ring of Dante’s Inferno.

Lisa Derrick | Sunday May 10, 2009 08:17 pm 11

So in a poll conducted by AOL, Ellen Degeneres and Portia DiRossi topped the list of people moms would leave their kids wiht. Take that, anti same-sex marriage freaks!

Lisa Derrick | Sunday May 10, 2009 08:18 pm 12

Lindsay Lohan’s mom Dina and Courtney Love were at the bottom–go figure

DrDick | Sunday May 10, 2009 08:20 pm 13

I cannot, and do not want to, imagine what it would be like having Courtney Love as your mother. Must be a constant slow motion train wreck.

I was at a mother-daughter tea yesterday with mom and sissy at church. One of the younger guys, who has a great voice, sang a bunch of Beatle’s love songs. It was real nice.
Fuck hell, I say.

Lisa Derrick | Sunday May 10, 2009 08:21 pm 15

I can’t fathom spending $323K on a child’s party. That is grotesque

Did you see the cover of one of the gossip newspapers with Jennifer Aniston? She’s another one of those mothers spending a ton on her child’s nursery. Are these people completely out of touch with what’s going on in the world?

EvilDrPuma | Sunday May 10, 2009 08:26 pm 19

Yes.

This has been another edition…

Lisa Derrick | Sunday May 10, 2009 08:27 pm 20

Jennifer Aniston is childless right now–maybe you mean Gewn Stefani who spent 100K to remodel a room at ther rehearsal studio inot a nursery…? At her home her kids sleep on $300 sheet. I am all for giving kids the best–but on the other hand, $50 sheets are fine for kids (dry irony)

ratfood | Sunday May 10, 2009 08:27 pm 21

Love the video. I believe that’s Mao at the end, not Kim Il Jong.

He also sang Ain’t Misbehavin’ and sissy and I got up and danced. And, for those here who heard about my friend…she passed away last night…she and I were supposed to go see that play this Tuesday. Now, here’s the deal, Norman did not know that, yet he chose that song to sing. She was reaching out to me, I think.

Lisa Derrick | Sunday May 10, 2009 08:29 pm 23

My friends who have kids like them to have a sense of perspective and reality, and dont want them to grow up spoiled. I mena I guess if you make millions you have a different view point, but none of the moms I know woud spend $300 on nursery sheets

demi | Sunday May 10, 2009 08:30 pm 24

I saw your story on Gwen. The tabloid headline said she’s adopting. I only read the cover while I was in line.
And, when they die, is this the best thing people will say about them? They sure spent a lot of moolah on her kid(s)? I don’t think so.

Lisa Derrick | Sunday May 10, 2009 08:30 pm 25
In response to ratfood @ 21

Maybe it is Mao and my own view son Kim Il Jong colored my POV–I always thought since KIJ is so inot movies, if we just loaned him Julia Roberts and Steven Speilberg for 6 months to make an epic, he;d give up his nukes

ratfood | Sunday May 10, 2009 08:33 pm 26

Anybody recall Mike Myers as the host of “Sprockets” on SNL? “Now it is time for East Germany’s most disturbing home video, ‘Fat Man In A Sprinkler.’”

Lisa Derrick | Sunday May 10, 2009 08:35 pm 28

Ohh, jennifer adopting…that would be good. There are over 130 million orphans in the world, and while some countries are strict (after all –their kids) there are plenty of countries which are very opne to US adoptions. Huge Jackman and his wife also adopted

Lisa !

Obama was great and Wanda was on fire … even though she had to refrain from expletives. Rush being the 20th Hijacker was my fav line of her’s.

ashton maybe ubiquitous, but he does work hard for good causes–anti-malaria, national day of service, getting out the vote. He knows he’s lucky and makes an effort.
