Levi vs Bristol: Locking the Barn Door After the Horse has been Stolen

Bristol Palin has begun her Repentance Tour 2009, appearing on Good Morning America today, National Day to Prevent Teen Pregnancy, as the teen ambassador for The Candie’s Foundation. See, Candie’s, a shoe manufacturer, has a message for young women:

Just because you’re wearing high-heeled shoes doesn’t mean you should have a baby.

Uh..okay. At least Bristol has job now: She gets to tell teens everywhere that if you get knocked up it can really screw up your life, unless your mom is famous enough–like oh say Sarah Palin, the governor of Alaska, an NRA pin-up girl and former VP candidate–to warrant you getting on the teevee. FYI: Three out of 10 teen girls in the US will get pregnant, and 80% of those do not marry the baby’s father. Even fewer will get to be interviewed on major networks with like stylists and stuff.

Bristol’s message: Absintence.

Regardless of what I did personally, I just think abstience is the only 100% foolproof way to prevent pregnancy.

In an earlier interview on Fox, Bristol said  abstinence is unrealistic, something repeatedly echoed by her baby’s hunky father, Levi Johnston, most recently on CBS’s Early Show this morning:

Abstinence is a great idea, but I also think you need to enforce, you know, condoms and birth control and other things like that to have safe sex. I don’t just think telling young kids, you can’t have sex, it’s not going to work. It’s not realistic.

Levi admitted that there were a few times he and Bristol did not use condoms.

Happened at least once, anyway.
