DC Belt Tightening at WH Correspondents’ Dinner: No Dessert, But Still Some Celebs

demiashton.thumbnail.jpgThe White House Correspondents’ Association dinner this year will reflect the difficult of economic times: They’re eschewing the chocolate mousse for a savings of $13,000 and donating a total of $23,000 to the Washington DC-based charity So Others Might Eat.

Comedienne Wanda Sykes is hosting–not only is she the first out LGBT host ever, she’s probably the only one who ever worked at the NSA as a secretary! Among the celeb guests so far: Twitterati actors Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Bernie Madoff victim Kevin Bacon, CIA chief Leon Panneta, Jon and Dorothea Bon Jovi, Brooke Shields, George Lucas, Steven Spielberg and Kate Capshaw, Glenn Close, Sting and Trudie Styler, Justice Antonin Scalia, Ludacris…

And for those of you fascinated by the White House press corpse [sic]–or who simply like to go all meta and watch a snake eat its tail–there’s a "micro-niche" website that just launched which lovingly follows every move of the White House 4th estate.

i’d love to see colbert get an invite back to host but I’m glad Wanda Sykes is there.
