To Wingnuts, Rush Limbaugh Is More Important Than Life Itself

baby.thumbnail.jpgAmerican conservatives have shifted their focus away from preserving the lives of unborn fetuses to saving Rush Limbaugh from the Fairness Doctrine, which they believe will be re-instituted in order to destroy their hours of slavering, frothing radio fun:

According to the official CPAC polling of its members, restoring the Fairness Doctrine is the third-most-significant Democratic Congress policy initiative opposed by the right wing, ranking behind only expanding government and public health care.

Oh noes! What about protecting innocent babies from femi-nazis and Planned Parenthood, because every good conservative knows that if America allows abortions, then the tewwowists will win because Jesus will pull out his immaculate protection from our nation!

Instead, conservatives are busy propping up the gaseous windbag that is Rush Limbaugh–not that he needs much help, since he’s already subsidized. According to Bill Mann:

To launch the show, Limbaugh’s syndicator, Premiere Radio Networks — the same folks who syndicate wingnut du jour Glen Beck — gave Limbaugh’s three hours away — that’s right, no cash — to local radio stations, mostly in medium and smaller markets, back in the early 1990′s.

So, a local talk station got Rush’s show for zilch. In exchange, Premiere took for itself much of the local station’s available advertising time (roughly 15 minutes an hour) and packed the show with national ads it had already pre-sold…Radio sources say that small- and medium-market stations still get Limbaugh’s show for free, or pay only a token amount of cash for it.

All which explains why you hear so much darn Rush. And since Rush is syndicated, that means that local personalities aren’t needed to fill those time slots. So, in addition to diverting conservatives from a pro-life message, Rush was stealing jobs from his fellow Americans!

We’re doomed.

I always thought it was bizarre in rush’s early years, a hated personality somehow got national coverage

now I know

And speaking of Rush, an individual on the previous thread has stated (and I quote redundantly), “Wow… you folks sure are intimidated of Rush.”

Well I guess that explains ever-thing, alright.

“…hours of slavering, frothing radio fun…”

Too funny!

as far as I am concerned the biggest damage that has been done to this country is removing the fairness doctrine

bg business gets to buy opinion with their propaganda

and obama claims he does not believe in the fairness doctrine

rush and his ditto brainless know he cannot survive with a balanced opinion following his

Wait a minute.

I thought taking everyone’s guns was up there at the top of the list.

Wha happened?

ART45 | Tuesday April 14, 2009 02:42 pm 5

As one who has spent much of his life being angry and fearful, I understand Rush.

He could make a person like I’ve been feel good, worthy, even valuable. Someone who mattered.

Rush is an entertainer who knows well his audience.

In response to scribe @ 4

Yeah, if the gubmint takes away the guns no one’s gonna be able to shoot them damn “baby killers”…

Rush is all marketing. His positions are fixed by what sells. He is fortunate that is loyal listeners don’t expect sincerity from him.

I’m in full support of bringing back the fairness doctrine. It angers me to hear liberal shows like The Stephanie Miller Show and Thom Hartmann complain it will kill talk radio. That is nonsense. No single show has to have balanced content there just has to be a balance of content during a single day. TV “issue” (talk) shows tended to do it in the same show because they didn’t devote their entire broadcast day to talking heads. Ah, those were the days.

And by the way, it only applied to public airwaves, so cable and satellite radio wouldn’t be covered.

Fairness doctrine? Would take away the leader of the Republican Party’s Pack’s bully pulpit.

Digg is open Pups.

If Rush did not exist, we would have to invent him. He has more to do with the demise of the Republican party than almost any politician. Just imagine if the Republican politician were able to adapt and change to reality. What if they did not have Boss Limbaugh around to burn them at the stake for heresy. As long as he is the Republican leader they will continue to shrink, even if his audience grows.

Tonight on Late Night we’ll be discussing some more Windbaggery–I’ve got a doozie for you.

What baffles me–and I listen to Rush in the car when I drive around in the mornings so I can get a take on wtf propaganda the Right is puking–is that here is a guy whose affect is so elitist, pretentious, hubristic and arrogant, hoisting himself on his own petard (in all senses, especially the hot anal air bursts)–and these are the very qualities he calls on his listeners to toss out in their government officials–as long as those elcted officials are Dems–and yet his listeners don;t get it: He is a rich guy telling them what to do–which is to not listen to “elitist.” Yet he is one himself…

Let’s not forget that he’s alao a perv, obsessed with scatological references at about a three year old’s maturity level.
Worst of all, he’s not funny.
He will lead the Reps into the desert and collect tolls along the road.

Premiere Radio Networks is owned by Clear Channel, who also owns hundreds of these “local” radio stations. This did not happen by accident.
