Economic Downturn Hits Celebs At Home: Cage Sells Castle, Love Will Give Away Fraud Houses

Cage loses shirt over castle?

Citing the economy, Nic Cage will sell the 500-year old castle he bought in 2006. He has not visited the the 28-room  property in over year, and the Austrian Times reports:

local architect Heinrich Schwirzer – who planned a massive restoration of the castle for Cage – says the star scrapped the ambitious project with no warning or explanation.

Cage paid close to $3 million for Schloss Neidstein and is reported to have spent twice that for renovations.

But the Oscar winning actor won’t be homeless. He owns another castle in England and additional US properties–and if the recession really hits hard, he can always turn to  Courtney Love, rock’s own Lady Bountiful, the widow Cobain. Yes, Courtney has inadvertently become quite the landed gentry: Her lawyer Rhonda Holmes told the New York Post that the Kurt Cobain estate had been looted of more than $30 million cash; that money plus ID theft has created an vast real estate empire worth $500 million dollars:

There is now a web of homes which were bought, flipped and used to launder money — up to $500 million worth. Any of the property we can get back will be donated to people who have lost their homes in foreclosures.

In the past Courtney said the theft and scammed properties were worth $800 million...but hey it’s a recession.
