Bush Decides on Book Title, Random House Decides to Buy It

bush_book.jpgWhile the financial details were not revealed–sources says it’s a $7 million dollar advance–former lame duck POTUS George Bush did let the media know he’d reached some decisions about the book he’s writing. He decided to sell it to Crown, a division of Random House and it won’t be an autobiography/memoir. And he’s decided on a title: Decision Points.

The decisive Bush, who once dubbed himself  The Decider–gee, maybe that was a typo and should have been The Divider?–said in an interview:

I want people to understand the environment in which I was making decisions. I want people to get a sense of how decisions were made and I want people to understand the options that were placed before me.

Some of the deicisions he’ll cover include:

*giving up drinking

*picking Dick Cheney as his vice president

*sending troops to Iraq

* claiming "mission accomplished"

* choosing My Pet Goat over Green Eggs and Ham

* which way is right side up

It is sad – a former U.S. President, writing his first book, feels a powerful need to explain to the world that he was the Decider. When other insiders have already let it out of the bag – Rove and Cheney were the deciders. But that title isn’t as self-congratulatory: “Sock Puppet in Chief”.
