Christian Bent Over GoDaddy Ads

jesus_facepalm.thumbnail.jpgChristian entrepreneur and website developer Brian Harrell who works with churches and faith-based organizations  says a large number of clients have asked him to remove their sites from GoDaddy’s webservers after seeing GoDaddy’s racy Super Bowl ads with Danica Patrick. In one of the commercials, Patrick compares her breast size with other girls, in the second, she takes a shower. Harrell told Wired.com

I know they’re trying to make sales, but that kind of content is not going to fly in the Christian community.

Oh like the other GoDaddy ads were all wholesome and stuff. For years GoDaddy has been infamous for its raunchy ads–some have been rejected by broadcasters multiple times for being too suggestive, and one ad (seen below in longform) was pulled mid-game before it aired–but Harrell says this time they went too far.

They have to be careful. I think they definitely crossed the line in this case.

Harrell sent an email to GoDaddy after the Super Bowl letting them know that 160 clients are leaving GoDaddy after seeing the Super Bowl ads. His strongly worded email says:

Please re-think how your morals and values are looking to the public. It seems that the GoDaddy President seems like a bit of a sex addict or pervert…this is a disease that will keep eating at the foundation of GoDaddy until someday it does some serious damage – or when you ALL have to be judged for your sins when you die.

Sounds like Harrell’s mad because the ads are costing him time and business and that his clients are judging him in this lifetime.

Oh, the conflicting emotions for these poor evangelicals! What to do when a favored torture supporter turns out to be a pornographer? Such conflicting family values.

The more puritanical someone is, the more likelihood of finding skeletons in the closet. So how about it. Brian? You might as well come clean now, lest the laundry eventually be aired on CNN.
