If you are a liberal and you listen to Warren’s words and then do a 180 in your beliefs, well then, Warren wins and you lose. I won’t be throwing away my beliefs just because Warren is speaking his. How many Evangelicals are pissed that Warren is speaking on behalf of a black man who supports civil unions and is pro-choice? I bet a lot! Remember this. The Evangelicals aren’t going to throw out all their beliefs just because Warren is speaking on this day.

That said, I can’t get too upset by having the guy speak–I don’t really understand the motivation behind it, on either side, but I don’t see a danger. Part of the genius of liberalism is that it gives its enemies the podium. At an inauguration, on national TV, he either says what he’d say in his Saddleback cult center and exposes years of moral and intellectual bancruptcy to the guffaws of millions. Or he does what he is said to have done on the web site, shows himself a hypocrite, and introduces a huge breach within the ranks of the crypto-idolator, pseudo-Christian movement. Either way, it ought to have entertainment value. But swing the public discourse toward creationism and “marriage protection”? Not a chance.

I also noticed how very unhappy all those people were who were holding up those signs. all of them looked angry. Not very attractive to the sane. Jim Jones all over again fer sure.
