Levi Johnston, who sired Sarah Palin’s first grandchild quit his job today. In October he told the Associated Press that he was quitting high school to work as an apprentice electrician in the Alaska oil fields.
Questions were raised Sunday about Levi’s eligibility to work in the program, as a high school diploma or GED is required. Earlier this week Palin threw a frantic media fit, manically calling People Magazine, emailing the AP and contacting the Anchorage Daily News about her daughter and her boyfriend’s status (or not) as students.
Supermom Sarah told People Magazine that she:
wanted to be clear about their continuing work toward high school degrees because any suggestion otherwise "harms Bristol’s reputation and Levi’s reputation and their chances for good work opportunities."
Keith Johnston said his own position as an ASRC construction engineer accounts for any help his son received in landing work
while Alaska’s Frost Lady
denied helping Levi Johnston get the job and called Fagan’s column "a political pot shot taken at me."
Levi’s dad said his 18 year son "resigned" his job. Levi will move home to work on his education.
He felt it was the best thing to do to kind of calm the waters, so to speak.
Oh and also today, Levi’s mom Sherry pleaded not guilty to six counts of misconduct relating to possession and sale of Oxycontin. No one came to court to support her, and she asked for a public defender, saying that she is in the midst of a divorce, living on disability and child support, with outstanding medical bills, which probably explains why she was doing something stupid like selling drugs. It’s no excuse, but it’s a reason. And the trial should be interesting, unless she gets a plea bargain. But a trial would clear up that pesky matter of the Secret Service that may or may not have been hanging around and thus delaying Gram Johnston’s arrest.
Her public defender hustled Sherry past a reporter after the hearing
You so cannot make this stuff up.
