Merry Xmess, California: Ahnuld’s Nightmare Before Christmas

The. Best. Christmas.Video.Ever.

Eugene at Daily Kos explains more eloquently than I why the Courage Campaign created this animated masterpiece which is now my favorite holiday video ever, way better than that creepy Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer with the scary snow monster and the even scarier Burl Ives. But  Herbie the dentist-elf is kinda cute. Anyhow, back to the scariest of all, the Governator:

Arnold Schwarzenegger vetoed Democratic plans to close a $16 billion deficit with a mix of taxes and cuts, in pursuit of his radical right-wing agenda. His veto is a lump of coal in the stocking – we face crippling cuts to education & health care, the erosion of the safety net so he can gut environmental and labor laws to satisfy his corporate and conservative buddies. And the media actively enables him.

So kiddies, come huddle in front of the computer screen and watch with me, A California Carol…

Congratulations on the new blog.
The name intrigued me – did you know a “figa” is also an amulet, very popular in Brazil? Probably that “hand gesture” you mentioned is much like the amulet:

(second one on the list)

There are som budget cuts that make sense…
-Freeing all non-violent offenders from prison, and closing a bunch of prisons.
-De-criminalization of pot and other in toxicants.
-Ending highway building. Time for mass transit.
-De-funding everything south of Los Angeles. They want a free market? They can have one.

I didn’t realize the amulet’s link to Brazil and the African diaspora, but yes, that’s the gesture–prolly named that because of the linguistic similarities

One thing the media seems to forget is Ah-noldt’s “starve the beast” rhetoric before he was elected.

Californians might consider doing something about the Jarvit’s Bill,. Prop 13. As an occasional visitor, I was able to see what it did to your State. There was a time when California was admired among the rest of the Union for your fabulous roads, great schools, all those things that make a place livable. Prop 13 reversed all of that and the State has been in a condition of decline ever since IMO. But I suppose you do at least have Star power in your Governator’s Office.

Perhaps we can arrange a charter flight, Elliot!

lots of things here need ta be renegotiated/repealed. there is plenty of money but we are short on management. yes, unions/retirement is an issue. san diego/chula vist and many cities are almost bancrupt.

OT – Bush orders pardon reconsidered. Shrub can’t even do pardons right.

According to a senior administration official, the White House learned new information about Toussie’s case Tuesday night — only hours after announcing his pardon.

Yeah, someone from the Pardon Attorney’s office is going to get hung out to dry.

I wonder how much Toussie paid Fielding.

Thanks Lisa, neo-con Schwarzenegger is a living nightmare, destroying California’s economy. Let us not forget Schwarzenegger got to be Governor by the criminal GOP recall masterminded by Rove, Cheney and Enron.

“Americans in general and Californians in particular need to stop falling for Rich Republican Celebrities, dressed up as “Compassionate” politicians, particularly former actors.”

Southern, I do not know if you will see this as I have not seen you around much today. I looked for you this morning to help me get my day started, but then I had to move right on without your send off. ;) So, if you are around, we missed you and hope the season is cheery and bright. B
