Melissa Etheridge makes some pretty heavy proclamations about warring for peace with the opposition. Very Sufist, which, I think Mz. Etheridge is?

I’m tending to give her words a chance given her status as a celeb LGBT member.

I realize she don’t speak for her wife, or any other LGBT’s, but, as an A in the equation her words strike me as incredibly insightful. I’m pretty sure if I was one for the LGBT’s, I would not have her insights or proclivity to think as she does.

She’s a better human than I (me being gay or not) for having done so.

Perhaps in her own way, it’s the hating of the sin (prejudice) , not the sinner (Warren)? Irony, it cuts all ways, don’t it.

I wish, I read the rest of her blog — there’s a couple hours of my life I’d like to have back.

She is just so wrong on so many counts it’s mind boggling.

Her overall premise is that since “marriage” is a term with religious connotations, we should just let the religious people have it. I guess there are no gay people of faith.

Personally though, I’m getting most tired seeing her referred to as Etheridge’s “wife” — they didn’t get married. They had the chance, like the rest of us, they chose not to get married. And now they paint themselves as martyrs, as spokespeople for gay married folk?

I don’t think so.

Besides, my marriage–my dignity–is worth more than hug and autography request from some adoring fan.

My apologies if this has been previously mentioned, but I got an email from Courage Campaign today that said that “Ken Starr had filed a legal brief–on behalf of the ‘Yes on 8′ campaign–to nullify the 18,000 same-sex marriages performed in California between May and November of 2008.” Has anyone else any information about this?

If true, this makes me so mad my hair hurts.
